Healthcare Directories for Doctors, Clinics and Practices
A new patient looking for a doctor, dentist or therapist rarely starts on your website. They start on a doctor finder or a review site, compare a few names, read what other patients said, and then click through. That is what the 27 entries below are for, and it is why the reviews on them matter more than the link.
Before you create anything, search for your name and your practice on the big sites. Several of the large doctor finders build profiles from public provider information, so there may already be a page about you that you can claim and correct.
Three entries work differently from the rest. NPPES NPI Registry, Medicare Care Compare and HRSA Health Center Finder are official US records rather than marketing listings. You appear in them because of your registration or enrolment, so the job there is making sure the record is accurate.
Every entry asks for a business address, and every one is free, with Psychology Today listed as a free tier.

Three to do first, all rated High by our partner and all rated Easy. Search for your practice on each before you sign up, because a profile may already exist.
- Healthgrades
One of the best known doctor finders, with over ten million monthly visits in the sheet. Claim or create your profile and make sure the details match your website exactly.
Easy effort, approval listed as instant
- WebMD Physician Directory
The largest traffic figure of any healthcare specific site in the set, and somewhere patients already go to read about symptoms and treatments.
Easy effort, approval listed as days
- Yelp Healthcare
Patients review practices here alongside every other local business, so an unclaimed page can collect reviews you never see.
Easy effort, approval listed as instant
If you are outside the US, start with Practo, which the sheet lists for Global and Asia, before the US focused doctor finders.
Every option, compared
Most of the large sites in this set give a nofollow link, which carries no ranking credit. That includes Healthgrades, WebMD Physician Directory, Zocdoc, Vitals, RateMDs, Psychology Today and Yelp Healthcare. Their value is patients who read your profile and book.
The dofollow entries, which can pass ranking credit, are mostly smaller doctor finders such as Wellness.com, FindATopDoc and MD.com, all three rated High and Easy. NPPES NPI Registry and HRSA Health Center Finder are also listed as dofollow, but you cannot add yourself to either the way you would to a directory.
Use the same practice name, address and phone number on every profile, written exactly as they appear on your website. Small differences between listings make it harder for search engines to be sure they are all the same practice.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1HRSA Health Center Finderfindahealthcenter.hrsa.gov | Dofollow | Free | High | Needs one | 85 | 800k | Moderate | Days | Not checked |
What submitting to HRSA Health Center Finder actually involvesLists health centres funded through HRSA, the US Health Resources and Services Administration. It only applies if your organisation is one of them. If it is, check that your entry is accurate. If it is not, skip it, because there is no route in for other practices. | |||||||||
| 2NPPES NPI Registrynpiregistry.cms.hhs.gov | Dofollow | Free | High | Needs one | 90 | 4.5M | Moderate | Instant | Not checked |
What submitting to NPPES NPI Registry actually involvesAn official US record rather than a directory. It publishes details for providers who hold a National Provider Identifier, the US identification number for healthcare providers, so you appear in it by holding an NPI rather than by submitting a listing. If you have one, look up your record and make sure the address and details match your website. Several other sites draw on provider records like this, so an error here can travel. | |||||||||

What submitting to Medicare Care Compare actually involvesThe US government tool for comparing providers who work with Medicare. You do not submit a listing here. Nofollow, and listed as Moderate effort. | |||||||||

What submitting to Psychology Today actually involvesThe one entry in the set listed as a free tier rather than simply free, which usually means a paid option sits above the free one. It is the main directory patients use to find therapists and counsellors, and it carries one of the largest traffic figures here. Read what the free tier includes before you sign up. | |||||||||

What submitting to RealSelf actually involvesA review site focused on cosmetic and aesthetic treatments. Worth doing if that is your field and of little use if it is not. Nofollow, rated Moderate effort. | |||||||||

How we chose these, and where the numbers came from
These 27 entries came from the healthcare tab of the collection sheet our SEO partner keeps, and they were added on 14 October 2026. Every figure in the table is from that sheet, including the priority rating, which is our partner's view of how much each one is worth your time.
We have not yet checked these entries ourselves. For healthcare that matters in a specific way: the sheet is a strong list of where patients look, but it cannot tell you whether your practice already has a profile on each one, and that is the first thing you will find out when you start.
Where the figures on this page came from
Every row comes from the healthcare tab of our SEO partner's collection sheet and was added on 14 October 2026. Domain authority and traffic figures are third party estimates carried over from that sheet and have not been independently reconciled. Link attribute, cost, approval speed, effort and priority are also as supplied, and none has been checked by us yet.
Every entry is listed as free, with Psychology Today as a free tier. Nothing here is an affiliate link and no payment to us moves any position.
The scoring weights, what a verification actually involves, and what gets an entry cut entirely are the same on every page of this site, so they are published once rather than restated here. Read the full methodology and money policy.
A private practice that wants new patients
Start with the doctor finders patients already use, and treat reviews as the main goal.
Healthgrades, WebMD Physician Directory, Zocdoc, Vitals, RateMDs and Yelp Healthcare are all rated High by our partner and all nofollow. They will not do much for your rankings directly, but a complete profile with recent reviews is often what a patient reads just before they call.
Search for your practice on each one first. Claim what exists, correct anything wrong, and only then create profiles on the sites where you have none. Afterwards, add the smaller dofollow finders, Wellness.com, FindATopDoc and MD.com, which are rated High and Easy and can pass ranking credit.
A therapist, counsellor or mental health practice
Psychology Today is the one to do first, and HealthProfs is a reasonable second.
Psychology Today is rated High, carries one of the largest traffic figures in the set, and is listed as a free tier, so read what the free option includes before you commit to anything paid. HealthProfs is dofollow, Easy and rated Medium.
Write your profile for the person reading it rather than for a search engine. Say who you work with, how sessions run and whether you see people online or in person. That is what someone choosing a therapist is trying to find out.
A US provider who already holds an NPI or works with Medicare
Check the official records before you build anything new.
NPPES NPI Registry, Medicare Care Compare and HRSA Health Center Finder are not places you submit to. They are records, and other sites can draw on provider information like this. If your address or details are out of date in an official record, that mistake can show up elsewhere.
Look yourself up in each one that applies to you and compare it with your website. If something is wrong, correct it through that body's own process. It is one of the more useful hours you can spend before starting on the doctor finders.
What to actually expect
Expect to find profiles you did not create. On the large doctor finders, claiming and correcting an existing page is often the first step, and it can involve confirming who you are before the site lets you edit.
Expect most of the work to be Easy. Nineteen of the 27 entries are rated Easy, and the other eight are Moderate, so this is a few evenings of careful form filling rather than a project.
Expect patients, not rankings. The sites with the most traffic here are nofollow, and the honest upside is a patient who reads your reviews and books.
Expect to answer reviews with care. In the US, patient privacy rules mean a public reply should not confirm that the reviewer is your patient or discuss their care, so keep replies general and take anything specific offline.
Expect the table to change. None of these entries has been checked yet, so some details will be corrected once they are.
Who should skip this entirely
Skip this set if you sell health products online rather than see patients. Every entry here asks for a business address and is built around a provider people visit or book, so an online store gets more from the ecommerce page.
Skip the US registries if you are not a US provider. NPPES, Medicare Care Compare and HRSA only cover US providers, and most of the doctor finders in this set lean towards the US as well. Practo is the clear exception.
Skip the specialist sites that do not match your field. RealSelf is for cosmetic and aesthetic treatments, Psychology Today and HealthProfs are for mental health, and NAFC Clinic Finder is for free and charitable clinics.
And skip any upgrade until your free profiles are complete and have a few reviews on them. Without that, you have no way to judge what a paid option would add.
Questions people actually ask about this
Why is there already a profile for my practice on Healthgrades or similar sites?
Some large doctor finders build profiles from public provider information, so a page can exist before you ever sign up. The fix is to claim it and correct anything wrong rather than creating a second one. Duplicate profiles split your reviews and confuse patients.
How do I get listed in the NPI Registry?
You do not submit a listing. The NPPES NPI Registry publishes records for US providers who hold a National Provider Identifier, so you appear in it once you have one. What you can do is check that your record matches your current practice address and details.
Are healthcare directory links dofollow?
Most of the large ones are not. Healthgrades, WebMD, Zocdoc, Vitals and Psychology Today are all listed as nofollow. The dofollow entries are mostly smaller finders such as Wellness.com, FindATopDoc and MD.com. For a practice, the patients the big sites send are usually worth more than the link.
Can I reply to patient reviews?
Yes, and you should, but carefully. In the US, patient privacy rules mean a public reply should not confirm that someone is your patient or mention their care. Thank people in general terms, and invite anyone with a complaint to contact the practice directly.
Do I need a physical address?
Yes. Every entry in this set asks for one. If you only offer online consultations, check each site before you sign up, because some may not list a practice without a location patients can visit.
Have these sites been checked?
Not yet. The entries were collected by our SEO partner and added on 14 October 2026, and every row is marked Not yet checked. Use the table as a list of where to look, and read each site's own sign up page before you rely on the link type or cost shown.
