Sample rows. All 27 entries below carry no verification date, because their figures were made up to build the page rather than researched. The names are real and the numbers are not. They are here so the table has something in it, they are marked Not checked in the table itself, and they keep this page out of search until the researched set replaces them.

Home Services and Trades Directories for Contractors

If you are a plumber, electrician, HVAC engineer or builder, you have probably already had a call from someone selling leads. A good share of the sites below are that business: HomeAdvisor, Thumbtack and Bark Pro give you a free profile and make their money selling you the jobs that come through it. The profile is worth having, and paying for leads is a separate decision you can make later.

The second group is the one most contractors overlook. ACCA, PHCC and NECA run contractor finders for their members, and ENERGY STAR and EPA WaterSense list programme partners. You get onto these by joining or partnering rather than by filling in a form, which is why they are slower, and why they are among the strongest dofollow links in the set.

Every entry asks for a business address and almost all of them are built for the US. Have your licence number and insurance details ready before you start, because platforms in this trade often ask for them.

Start here

Three to do first, all rated High by our partner. Have your licence number, insurance details and a few photos of finished jobs ready before you open any of them.

  1. BuildZoom

Dofollow, Easy and rated High, which is a rare combination in this set. A contractor profile may already exist, so search for your business before creating one.

Easy effort, approval listed as days

  2. Houzz Pro

One of the largest traffic figures on the page, and the place homeowners browse photos before choosing someone for a remodel. Your project photos do most of the work here.

Moderate effort, approval listed as instant

  3. Thumbtack

Easy and listed as instant approval, so it is a quick lead marketplace to get onto. Set up the free profile now and decide about paying for leads once you have seen what comes in.

Easy effort, approval listed as instant

If you already belong to ACCA, PHCC or NECA, or are an ENERGY STAR or WaterSense partner, check your listing there first. It may be the best link you have and you may not know it exists.

Every option, compared

Sort this table in your head into three groups before you start.

The lead marketplaces, HomeAdvisor, Thumbtack and Bark Pro, are all nofollow, which means the link passes no ranking credit. Their value is jobs. The profile is listed as free, and the leads are what they sell.

The trade bodies and programme lists, ACCA Find a Contractor, PHCC Directory, NECA Connection, ENERGY STAR Partner Locator and EPA WaterSense Directory, are the five rows marked Free tier. All five are dofollow and rated High. The catch is that each one lists members or partners, so what it costs you depends on that body's own rules.

The rest are general contractor directories. The ten our partner rates Skip are all small, dofollow and quick, so they are fine to leave until last or ignore.

1EPA WaterSense Directoryepa.govFree tierHighNeeds one9212MHardWeeksNot checked
What submitting to EPA WaterSense Directory actually involves

Lists partners in EPA WaterSense, the US water efficiency programme. Like ENERGY STAR, the route in is partnership rather than a submission form, which is why it is rated Hard with approval in weeks. Most relevant to plumbers and irrigation contractors whose work already fits the programme.

2ENERGY STAR Partner Locatorenergystar.govFree tierHighNeeds one904.5MHardWeeksNot checked
What submitting to ENERGY STAR Partner Locator actually involves

Lists partners in the ENERGY STAR programme, the US energy efficiency label run by the EPA and the Department of Energy. You appear here by becoming a programme partner, which is why the data lists it as Hard effort with approval in weeks. Worth it if you install or sell efficient heating, cooling or appliances and would qualify anyway.

3The Blue Bookthebluebook.comFreeHighNeeds one70600kModerateDaysNot checked
What submitting to The Blue Book actually involves

A directory aimed at commercial construction rather than homeowners. Dofollow, rated High and Moderate effort. Worth doing if you take commercial or subcontract work, and of little use for a business that only serves households.

What submitting to ACCA Find a Contractor actually involves

The contractor finder of ACCA, the Air Conditioning Contractors of America. Listed as a free tier, which here means the listing comes with membership. If you are an HVAC contractor and already a member, check your listing is complete. If not, weigh the membership on its own merits rather than for the link.

What submitting to NECA Connection actually involves

The directory of NECA, the National Electrical Contractors Association. Listed as a free tier and dofollow. For an electrical contractor who is already a member, this is a strong link that takes only a few minutes to check.

9PHCC Directoryphccweb.orgFree tierHighNeeds one5880kModerateDaysNot checked
What submitting to PHCC Directory actually involves

The member directory of PHCC, the Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors Association. Listed as a free tier, dofollow and rated High. The same rule applies as for the other trade bodies: the listing follows from membership, so check yours if you are a member.

What submitting to HomeAdvisor actually involves

A lead marketplace. The profile is listed as free and the business is selling you leads, so read exactly what you are agreeing to before you add a payment card. Expect to be asked for licence and insurance details, since screening contractors is part of what it offers homeowners. Nofollow, rated Moderate effort.

How we chose these, and where the numbers came from

These 27 entries came from the home services tab of the collection sheet our SEO partner keeps, and they were added on 14 October 2026. Every figure in the table is from that sheet, including the priority rating, which is our partner's view of how much each one is worth your time.

We have not yet checked these entries ourselves. The column most likely to need correcting is Cost, because the free label on a lead marketplace covers the profile and not the leads, and the free tier on a trade body depends on membership rules we have not confirmed.

Where the figures on this page came from

Every row comes from the home services tab of our SEO partner's collection sheet and was added on 14 October 2026. Domain authority and traffic figures are third party estimates carried over from that sheet and have not been independently reconciled. Link attribute, cost, approval speed, effort and priority are also as supplied, and none has been checked by us yet.

Every entry is listed as free or as a free tier. Nothing here is an affiliate link and no payment to us moves any position.

The scoring weights, what a verification actually involves, and what gets an entry cut entirely are the same on every page of this site, so they are published once rather than restated here. Read the full methodology and money policy.

A one or two person trade business that wants more jobs

Set up free profiles on the lead marketplaces and the big review sites, and hold off on paying for anything.

Thumbtack, HomeAdvisor and Bark Pro are rated High and listed as free. Fill each profile in properly, with real job photos and a clear list of the work you take on, then watch what comes in for a while before you spend money on leads. Add the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and Houzz Pro, which are also rated High and carry large traffic figures.

All of these are nofollow, so they are about jobs rather than rankings. That is usually the right priority for a small trade business.

An HVAC, plumbing or electrical contractor who belongs to a trade body

Check your trade association listing before anything else on the page.

ACCA Find a Contractor, PHCC Directory and NECA Connection are dofollow, rated High and listed as a free tier, which here means they come with membership. If you are already a member, you may have a listing you have never looked at. Make sure the business name, address, phone number and website match your own site exactly.

If you also install efficient equipment, the ENERGY STAR Partner Locator and EPA WaterSense Directory work the same way through partnership. They are rated Hard with approval in weeks, so start them early.

A builder or remodeller who wants links as well as leads

Mix the high traffic nofollow sites with the dofollow contractor directories.

BuildZoom is dofollow, Easy and rated High, and it is the first to do. The Blue Book is dofollow and rated High but aimed at commercial work. Networx and Contractors.com are dofollow and rated Medium. GuildQuality and Porch are rated Medium and nofollow.

For the homeowner side, Houzz Pro has one of the largest audiences in the set and rewards good project photos. Put your best finished work on it, with a line on what the job involved.

What to actually expect

Expect sales calls. Signing up to a lead marketplace often leads to a conversation about paid leads, and that is part of how these sites work. The free profile does not depend on it.

Expect to be asked for proof. Licence numbers, insurance certificates and sometimes identity checks are common in this trade, so have them in one place before you start.

Expect the trade body and programme listings to take the longest. ENERGY STAR and EPA WaterSense are rated Hard with approval in weeks, and the three trade associations are Moderate with approval in days.

Expect the ten small directories rated Skip to be quick and to make little difference. They are fine to do once the rest is finished.

Expect the table to change. None of these entries has been checked yet, so some details will be corrected once they are.

Who should skip this entirely

Skip this set if you work outside the US and Canada. Almost every entry is listed for the US only. Bark Pro and Houzz Pro are the exceptions worth trying, and a local citation page for your own country will do more for you than the rest of this list.

Skip it if you sell home products online rather than doing the work. Every entry here asks for a business address and is built around a contractor coming to the house, so an online shop gets more from the ecommerce page.

Skip the trade body directories if you are not a member and have no other reason to join. Membership has its own costs and benefits, and a directory link alone is a weak reason to sign up.

And skip paid leads until your free profiles have been live long enough to show you what they bring in. Without that, you have nothing to compare the price against.

Questions people actually ask about this

Are HomeAdvisor, Thumbtack and Bark free?

The profiles are listed as free. What these platforms sell is leads, the job requests that come through them. You can create a profile without buying leads, and it is worth deciding about paid leads separately once you have seen how the free profile performs.

Why do the trade associations show as a free tier?

Because the listing comes with membership or partnership. ACCA, PHCC and NECA list their members, and ENERGY STAR and EPA WaterSense list their programme partners. The directory itself does not charge you, but getting into it depends on that body's own rules.

Which of these give a dofollow link?

Twenty of the 27 are listed as dofollow, including the five trade body and programme lists, BuildZoom, The Blue Book and Networx. The lead marketplaces, Houzz Pro, Porch, GuildQuality and the BBB are listed as nofollow.

What should I have ready before I sign up?

Your business name, address and phone number written exactly as they appear on your website, your licence number, your insurance details, a short description of the work you do and the area you cover, and a handful of photos of finished jobs.

Have these sites been checked?

Not yet. The entries were collected by our SEO partner and added on 14 October 2026, and every row is marked Not yet checked. Treat the link type and cost as a starting point, and read each sign up page before you add a payment card or share licence details.
